The “Cushion of the Sea!”

The Peace of God that follows genuine acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior is not a fleeting feeling but an eternal calm rooted in reconciliation!

The Living Bible declares in Romans 5:1, “So now, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.”

This peace begins the moment a person turns from self and sin and receives Christ by faith. The hostility that once existed between the sinner and a holy God is removed, replaced by a settled, lasting rest that the world cannot manufacture or sustain.

Jesus Himself promised this calm in John 14:27 (TLB): “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” The world’s peace depends on favorable circumstances; God’s peace remains when storms rage. It is the quiet confidence that one’s sins are forgiven, that eternal destiny is secure, and that the risen Christ now intercedes.

Isaiah 26:3 (TLB) confirms the condition and the result: “He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord!” Trusting Christ as Savior and continually fixing the mind on Him produces a perfect, unshakable calm.

This eternal calm is guarded and deepened by the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:6-7 (TLB) instructs believers, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.”

After salvation, anxiety does not automatically vanish, yet the peace of God stands guard over heart and mind. The believer learns to bring every concern to the Father, knowing the outcome rests in sovereign hands.

Practically, this calm appears as steady endurance in hardship, freedom from the fear of death, and a quiet assurance that nothing can separate the child of God from the love of Christ.

It is not passive resignation but active trust. The same Savior who purchased peace at the Cross now lives within, continually applying that peace to daily life. Those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior discover that the peace of God is both the birthright of the new birth and the sustaining atmosphere of the Christian walk—an eternal calm that begins the moment faith is exercised and never ends!

⁴Praise Him, skies above. Praise Him, vapors high above the clouds.

⁵Let everything He has made give praise to Him. For He issued His command, and they came into being;

21 The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord;
    he turns it wherever he will.
²Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
    but the Lord weighs the heart.
³To do righteousness and justice
    is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
⁴Haughty eyes and a proud heart,
    the lamp^[a] of the wicked, are sin.
⁵The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance,
    but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
⁶The getting of treasures by a lying tongue
    is a fleeting vapor and a snare of death.^[b]
⁷The violence of the wicked will sweep them away,
    because they refuse to do what is just.
⁸The way of the guilty is crooked,
    but the conduct of the pure is upright.
⁹It is better to live in a corner of the housetop

16 Send the lamb to the ruler of the land,
from Sela, by way of the desert,
    to the mount of the daughter of Zion.
²Like fleeing birds,
    like a scattered nest,
so are the daughters of Moab
    at the fords of the Arnon.

³“Give counsel;
    grant justice;
make your shade like night
    at the height of noon;
shelter the outcasts;
    do not reveal the fugitive;
⁴let the outcasts of Moab
    sojourn among you;
be a shelter to them^[a]
    from the destroyer.
When the oppressor is no more,
    and destruction has ceased,

7 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. ²Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, ³saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” ⁴And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

⁵12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
⁶12,000 from the tribe of Asher,

12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,

A Great Multitude from Every Nation

⁹After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, ¹⁰and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” ¹¹And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, ¹²saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

¹³Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” ¹⁴I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁵“Therefore they are before the throne of God,
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
    and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
¹⁶They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.

    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
