Enough Is Enough:

Belshazzar’s Fatal Feast

In Daniel 5 of the Living Bible, Belshazzar the king invited a thousand of his officers to a great feast where the wine flowed freely.

While drinking, he was reminded of the gold and silver cups taken long before from the Temple in Jerusalem during Nebuchadnezzar’s reign and brought to Babylon. He ordered those sacred cups brought in, and he and his princes, wives, and concubines drank toasts from them to their idols made of gold and silver, brass and iron, wood and stone.

This was not casual excess. It was calculated defiance. The vessels had been set apart for the worship of the Most High God. Belshazzar knew the history: Nebuchadnezzar had been humbled until he acknowledged that the Most High overrules the kingdoms of men. Yet Belshazzar refused humility. He defied the Lord of Heaven, using holy vessels for unholy toasts while praising gods that “neither see nor hear nor know anything at all.” He ignored the God who gives the breath of life and controls destiny.

Suddenly, the fingers of a man’s hand wrote on the plaster of the wall opposite the lampstand. Terror gripped the king—his face blanched, his knees knocked, his legs gave way. None of his wise men could read the writing.

Daniel, summoned at the queen mother’s urging, delivered the interpretation without flattery:

Mene—God has numbered the days of your reign, and they are ended;

Tekel—you have been weighed in God’s balances and have failed the test;

Parsin—your kingdom will be divided and given to the Medes and Persians.

That very night Belshazzar was killed, and Darius the Mede entered the city and began to reign.

Here the theme “Enough is Enough” stands clear:

God is patient, but His patience is not permission.

Belshazzar’s pride, his public desecration of what belonged to the Lord, and his refusal to honor the God he knew crossed the line. The writing on the wall was the divine declaration that the cup of iniquity was full. Judgment was not delayed; it arrived the same night because the Sovereign Lord had determined that the mocking of His holy vessels and the exaltation of lifeless idols would not continue.

The account still speaks: When people treat the sacred as common, when known truth is despised in favor of pride and idols of self or culture, there comes a moment when God says enough.

Every life and every kingdom is numbered, weighed, and accountable.

The fall of Belshazzar calls us to honor what is holy, to humble ourselves before the Lord of Heaven, and to praise the God who holds our breath and destiny—while there is still time.

If you have not Repented of your sins and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior you are still wrapped in grave clothes just like Lazarus was before Jesus raised him from the dead and his grave clothes fell off!

Let us Praise Him Daily!

A good way to learn to Praise God is to memorize the first 6 Verses of Psalms 148:

1 Praise the Lord, O heavens! Praise Him from the skies!

2 Praise Him, all His angels, all the armies of heaven.

3 Praise Him, sun and moon and all you twinkling stars.

4 Praise Him, skies above. Praise Him, vapors high above the clouds.

5 Let everything He has made give praise to Him. For He issued His command, and they came into being;

6 He established them forever and forever. His orders will never be revoked.

PLEASE read the last 6 Chapters of Psalms: 145-150 so that you will learn how to Praise God like David did!

Chapter 29 in Proverbs for today: (OCTOBER 29 (MT) (ESV)

  1. 29 He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck,
        will suddenly be broken beyond healing.
    2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice,
        but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
    3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad,
        but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
    4 By justice a king builds up the land,
        but he who exacts gifts[a] tears it down.
    5 A man who flatters his neighbor
        spreads a net for his feet.
    6 An evil man is ensnared in his transgression,
        but a righteous man sings and rejoices.
    7 A righteous man knows the rights of the poor;
        a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.
    8 Scoffers set a city aflame,
        but the wise turn away wrath.
    9 If a wise man has an argument with a fool,
        the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.
    10 Bloodthirsty men hate one who is blameless
        and seek the life of the upright.[b]
    11 A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
        but a wise man quietly holds it back.
    12 If a ruler listens to falsehood,
        all his officials will be wicked.
    13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together;
        the Lord gives light to the eyes of both.
    14 If a king faithfully judges the poor,
        his throne will be established forever.
    15 The rod and reproof give wisdom,
        but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
    16 When the wicked increase, transgression increases,
        but the righteous will look upon their downfall.
    17 Discipline your son, and he will give you rest;
        he will give delight to your heart.
    18 Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint,[c]
        but blessed is he who keeps the law.
    19 By mere words a servant is not disciplined,
        for though he understands, he will not respond.
    20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?
        There is more hope for a fool than for him.
    21 Whoever pampers his servant from childhood
        will in the end find him his heir.[d]
    22 A man of wrath stirs up strife,
        and one given to anger causes much transgression.
    23 One’s pride will bring him low,
        but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
    24 The partner of a thief hates his own life;
        he hears the curse, but discloses nothing.
    25 The fear of man lays a snare,
        but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
    26 Many seek the face of a ruler,
        but it is from the Lord that a man gets justice.
    27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous,
        but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.

    1. Proverbs 29:4 Or who taxes heavily
    2. Proverbs 29:10 Or but the upright seek his soul
    3. Proverbs 29:18 Or the people are discouraged
    4. Proverbs 29:21 The meaning of the Hebrew word rendered his heir is uncertain

CHAPTER 24 ISAIAH for today:

(October 29 (RF) ESV)

24 Behold, the Lord will empty the earth[a] and make it desolate,
    and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.
2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest;
    as with the slave, so with his master;
    as with the maid, so with her mistress;
as with the buyer, so with the seller;
    as with the lender, so with the borrower;
    as with the creditor, so with the debtor.
3 The earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered;
    for the Lord has spoken this word.

4 The earth mourns and withers;
    the world languishes and withers;
    the highest people of the earth languish.
5 The earth lies defiled
    under its inhabitants;
for they have transgressed the laws,
    violated the statutes,
    broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore a curse devours the earth,
    and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt;
therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched,
    and few men are left.
7 The wine mourns,
    the vine languishes,
    all the merry-hearted sigh.
8 The mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
    the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
    the mirth of the lyre is stilled.
9 No more do they drink wine with singing;
    strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.
10 The wasted city is broken down;
    every house is shut up so that none can enter.
11 There is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;
    all joy has grown dark;
    the gladness of the earth is banished.
12 Desolation is left in the city;
    the gates are battered into ruins.
13 For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth
    among the nations,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
    as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done.

14 They lift up their voices, they sing for joy;
    over the majesty of the Lord they shout from the west.[b]
15 Therefore in the east[c] give glory to the Lord;
    in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
16 From the ends of the earth we hear songs of praise,
    of glory to the Righteous One.
But I say, “I waste away,
    I waste away. Woe is me!
For the traitors have betrayed,
    with betrayal the traitors have betrayed.”

17 Terror and the pit and the snare[d]
    are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth!
18 He who flees at the sound of the terror
    shall fall into the pit,
and he who climbs out of the pit
    shall be caught in the snare.
For the windows of heaven are opened,
    and the foundations of the earth tremble.
19 The earth is utterly broken,
    the earth is split apart,
    the earth is violently shaken.
20 The earth staggers like a drunken man;
    it sways like a hut;
its transgression lies heavy upon it,
    and it falls, and will not rise again.

21 On that day the Lord will punish
    the host of heaven, in heaven,
    and the kings of the earth, on the earth.
22 They will be gathered together
    as prisoners in a pit;
they will be shut up in a prison,
    and after many days they will be punished.
23 Then the moon will be confounded
    and the sun ashamed,
for the Lord of hosts reigns
    on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem,
and his glory will be before his elders.

Revelation 16

for today: (OCTOBER  29 (NN) ESV)

1

16 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”

2 So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.

3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of a corpse, and every living thing died that was in the sea.

4 The third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood. 5 And I heard the angel in charge of the waters[a] say,

“Just are you, O Holy One, who is and who was,
    for you brought these judgments.
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
    and you have given them blood to drink.
It is what they deserve!”

7 And I heard the altar saying,

“Yes, Lord God the Almighty,
    true and just are your judgments!”

8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed[b] the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.

10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.

12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. 14 For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. 15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) 16 And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

The Seventh Bowl

17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings,[c] peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21 And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds[d] each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

Please Remember:

“CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS

AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD!”

The Steps to Salvation:

> Repent: Repentance means that you are turning away from sin to turn to Christ. It does NOT mean that you will be perfect.

> Believe/Receive: Salvation is through Faith in Jesus and by the Grace of God. Believing means putting your Faith in Jesus and receiving forgiveness of sin.

>Walk in the Newness of Life: Jesus died so that we might live. We walk in the Newness of Life being Born Again by His Blood.
