A Perfect Lamb!
Today’s Reading
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. A Perfect Lamb
What a wonderful Savior we have in Mary’s Lamb, the Son of God born that first Christmas night! Jesus came as He did, born of a virgin, to be what He was—the sinless Lamb of God. He was what He was, sinless, to do what He did—die for our sins. And He died for our sins so that He, being what He was, might make us what we are not and ought to be— children of God.
Remember those Passover lambs being raised in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’ birth? Those were the lambs the shepherds kept watching over when the angel appeared to them announcing the birth of the Savior. Even though we are observing Christmas, the first week of Jesus’ earthly life, I want to “fast forward” to the last week of His life.
On Palm Sunday, the Lord Jesus came down the Mount of Olives and ascended to the temple mount. At the very same time, the lambs for the upcoming Passover were brought in through the sheep gate. The priests examined those lambs to make certain they were perfect for sacrifice. At the same time, God’s Lamb was examined by His enemies. No charge whatsoever could be made against Jesus. Even Pilate had to confess, “I find no fault in Him”
(John 19:4).
Jesus was a perfect Lamb. Jesus went from the temple mount to the Last Supper and then out to dark Gethsemane. By nine o’clock the next morning, He was on His way to the cross. Then at three o’clock that afternoon, as the priests offered the Passover lambs in the temple, Mary’s Lamb was hanging on the cross. Suddenly He cried, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Our sin debt had been paid in full! Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

While we are here the LORD is with us, and when we are called away we are with Him. There is no dividing the saint from His Savior. They are one, and they always must be one: Jesus cannot be without His own people, for He would be a Head without a body. Whether caught up into the air, or resting in paradise, or sojourning here, we are with Jesus; and who shall separate us from Him? What a joy is this! Our supreme honor, rest, comfort, delight, is to be with the LORD. We cannot conceive of anything which can surpass or even equal this divine society. By holy fellowship we must be with Him in His humiliation, rejection, and travail, and then we shall be with Him in His glory. THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT
HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE!
If you believe that verse, on Faith, that GOD sent His Only Begotten Son,
Jesus Christ, to this earth over 2,000 years ago, to shed His Blood and Die
on that Cross at Calvary in payment for ALL of your sins AND for all of the
sins of the entire human race, was buried in a borrowed tomb, rose from
the dead on the 3rd Day we now call Easter, was seen by at least 500 people
after His Resurrection and ascended back into Heaven to sit on His Throne at GOD’s
Right-Hand-Side and you can lift up this Prayer to our
Sovereign GOD in Heaven:
“Lord, I confess that I am a sinner. By Faith, I accept Jesus Christ as my
Personal Lord and Savior, I repent of my sins and give Christ total control of my life,
in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
If you can say that Prayer, right now as you sit in front of your computer screen,
GOD will accept that Special Prayer, there will be Rejoicing in Heaven
and you will be Spiritually Born Again. Your name will be written in
the Lamb’s Book of Life as a Christian and you will, from that moment
until you die, and forever afterwards, have Eternal Life with GOD
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit in Heaven.
Right now, you really have a choice, to accept Christ as your Personal Savior
or Reject Him.
If you reject Him and you die tonight or anytime in the future before
accepting Him, you will come under a very important verse in the
Last Book in the Holy Bible, the Inspired, Inerrant, Infallible Word
of GOD. That verse is Revelation 20:15:

15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the
Lamb’s Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
This will occur at the Great White Throne of Judgment described in:

The Judgment of the Dead

The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the Lamb’s Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Friend: Again I say: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit love you and WANT you to be in Heaven
with them but you MUST Cure yourself of the Disease of sin, and Jesus is the ONLY WAY.
All I can do is tell you. You must open your heart to the Holy Spirit and, by Faith, accept Jesus Christ as your Personal Savior. You have been told: The decision is yours: Accept Him or Reject Him.
Lord, I lift up the person reading this statement that You have placed upon my heart to write.
PLEASE open this Precious Person’s Heart, whom I know that You Love, to Your Holy Spirit
so they will, by Faith, accept your Precious Son, Jesus, as their Personal Savior,

Let us not sleep, as do others.
There are many ways of promoting Christian wakefulness. Among the rest, let me strongly advise Christians to converse together concerning the ways of the Lord. Christian and Hopeful, as they journeyed towards the Celestial City, said to themselves, “To prevent drowsiness in this place, let us fall into good discourse.” Christian enquired, “Brother, where shall we begin?” And Hopeful answered, “Where God began with us.” Then Christian sang this song-
“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;
Yea, let them learn of them, in any wise,
Thus to keep open their drowsy slumb’ring eyes.
Saints’ fellowship, if it be managed well,
Keeps them awake, and that in spite of hell.”
Christians who isolate themselves and walk alone, are very liable to grow drowsy. Hold Christian company, and you will be kept wakeful by it, and refreshed and encouraged to make quicker progress in the road to heaven. But as you thus take “sweet counsel” with others in the ways of God, take care that the theme of your converse is the Lord Jesus. Let the eye of faith be constantly looking unto Him; let your heart be full of Him; let your lips speak of His worth. Friend, live near to the cross, and thou wilt not sleep. Labour to impress thyself with a deep sense of the value of the place to which thou art going. If thou rememberest that thou art going to heaven, thou wilt not sleep on the road. If thou thinkest that hell is behind thee, and the devil pursuing thee, thou wilt not loiter. Would the manslayer sleep with the avenger of blood behind him, and the city of refuge before him? Christian, wilt thou sleep whilst the pearly gates are open-the songs of angels waiting for thee to join them-a crown of gold ready for thy brow? Ah! no; in holy fellowship continue to watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Why I Believe in the Return of Christ
God continues to bless Sagemont Church. In the last two Sundays, over 100 people have made public decisions to make Jesus Christ Lord of their life. Pastors Chuck Schneider, Stuart Rothberg, and Jim Hastings have been teaching the scriptures as both the Old and New Testaments prophesy and proclaim that Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth again to claim and receive His children unto Himself. During the worship services, I am preaching the message and promise of the return of Christ.
One may ask, “Pastor, why do you passionately believe that Jesus is literally going to return to the earth?” These are a few reasons:
Why I Believe in the Return of Christ
- Jesus said He would! John 14:3 “I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
- The entire Christian view of history demands it.
- The prophetic signs found in scripture are now clearly being fulfilled.
- Earthquakes all over the globe. Matthew 24:7 – (over 20,000 since 1971)
- Hearts will fail for fear. Luke 21:26 – Suicides are epidemic.
- Great explosions of learning. II Timothy 3:7 – People cannot discern the truth.
- Immorality abounds. Luke 17:26-27 – Like the days of Noah.
Scripture clearly teaches that Jesus will come to save His children and judge the rest.

God and Churchill
I have just completed reading one of the best books that I have read in the last twenty years. God and Churchill, written by one of our newest Sagemont members Jonathan Sandys (pronounced “sands”), great-grandson of Sir Winston Churchill. Wallace Henley, staff member at Second Baptist Church, Houston, assisted Jonathan in this profound book. The purpose of the book is to make clear “how the great leader’s sense of divine destiny changed his troubled world and offers help for ours.” Tyndale Momentum is the publisher. The book has many profound quotes. However, there is one that has impacted my life more than many others. Prime Minister of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher, addressing the Church of Scotland General Assembly in 1988, said “I think back to many discussions in my early life when we all agreed that if you try to take the fruits of Christianity without its roots, the fruits will wither. And they will not come back unless you nurture the roots.”
One of the responsibilities of the Bride of Christ, the Church, is to keep Christianity on track and prevent the derailing of His ultimate purpose. The paganism that is engulfing us today will ultimately destroy us unless we return to the roots of our faith. “Our faith is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.” It is on the solid rock we must stand for truly all other ground is sinking sand.

We shall find it impossible to commit our way unto the Lord, unless it be a way that He approves. Why are some Christians so anxious, so fearful? Evidently because they have not left their way with the Lord. They took it to Him, but brought it away with them again.
